When two people are getting married to each other and they mutter these words in front of a pastor “For richer, for poorer”, they don’t always understand the gravity of that statement.

Many people say because it is a something they are expected to say. They don’t believe it or even fully understand it.

When getting married, it is important that not only is God in the center of your union but that you understand that he has a plan for the finances, if you’re willing to listen and learn.

Instead of  seeing the purpose of a fresh marital union as the accumulation of new things, couples should endeavor  build a strong relationship with God.

In Matthew 6 vs 33, Jesus said

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

This means that even as a married couple, your main focus should always be to understand God better, it is through your understanding of God that you will be exposed to knowledge that will guide you into making great financial decisions.

Let’s remember that we are not owners of anything in this world and merely renters. We only take care of what God has given to us.

As a couple, you need to first accept that God is the owner of everything and that you are simply stewards sent to manage his property. You will be able to manage this properties well using his principles and standards once you come to that realization.

No matter how little your financial income is as a married couple, how you manage it is what will determine if God will bless you even more.

A lot of the times, couples go into debt because they do not plan ahead and then it becomes impossible to get out of it.

Like 14 bs 28 says,

“Which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?”

  1. In Proverbs 24 vs 3-4, It was stated
