Adichie identifies as a feminist, and the equality in her household depicts this. For example, when she birthed her daughter, it was Dr. Ivara that stayed home to look after the child for the first six months. Afterward, the two shared a fifty-fifty responsibility in raising their daughter.

Chimamanda also would rather be referred to as  Ms. Adichie instead of her husband’s name Mrs. Esege because she wants to be seen as separate from her marriage and seem distinctly as an author.

Chimamanda currently resides in America with her family but does occasionally visit Nigeria.
