Are you caging your lover? Here’s what that leads to

Toxic relationships come in different forms. And one of the most prevalent realizations of this is when lovers subdue each other. If you are among those who cage their significant other, you might want to know what that leads to for you two.

Atrophy of the self. That is the first consequence of your action. Your lover whom you’ve chosen to limit his/her reach will battle with building self-esteem. And that can last a lifetime. The fact that you shun them down, shout at them, go monster on them deals a great psychological blow on them. This breeds such complexities as anxiety, chronic fear (i.e., agoraphobia).

Do you really want that for your lover?

More than that, caging your lover limits their potential. Is (s)he trying to further his/her education? start a business? learn a skill? Why not let them?

So what if they fail! So what if at first, they are not good enough! At least they’ll leave with the thrill of trying. You stand a lot to lose when you hinder the progress of your lover. They become useless to themselves and to you. You can’t count on them. Hell, yes, you can’t rely on them! What good then does that do to you?

None.

You can’t get everything done alone. No man can. It’s why males and females are created to help each other. Build in your lover a sense of a teammate. You should be partners -doing all things complementarily.
Caging them only makes you a loner. And this journey called life is several times more difficult when journeyed alone.

You would want to consider a rethink.

Set yourself on a cause. Rediscover the art of helping your lover become confident. Sit together. Apologize for your misdeeds by trying to cage him/her. Then set a new trajectory for yourselves.
