The Beginning (How They Met)

Timi Dakolo met Busola in House on the Rock Church in 2010. He was standing behind the choristers on the podium when he sighted her. He couldn’t resist the beauty so he had to approach her. To start a conversation, he asked her why she was frowning in church. He was a chorister and she was a member of the congregation. The first time he introduced himself as Timi Dakolo, she replied to him with “and so what?”.

Timi didn’t give up just yet. He went ahead to have a conversation with her even after her cold reply and then he asked for her number. Although Timi says that she gave him the wrong one, she confirmed that it was her real number but they had stolen her phone that day after the service so he couldn’t reach her. Timi found her weeks after their first encounter and confronted her for giving him a wrong. After explaining everything to him, he asked for her address and started to visit. 

Busola in an interview with punch said that while he was visiting, he kept on asking her out and she had to take her time to study him before replying. She found out that he was different from the others and was an amazing person.

Who Is Timi Dakolo?

Timi Dakolo is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer. He was born on the 20th of January, 1981, in Accra Ghana but he is originally from Bayelsa, Nigeria. He emerged as the winner of Idols West Africa in 2007. He is a graduate of Mass communication from the University of Port Harcourt and also did his Masters in songwriting at Berklee College of Music, Boston. He is one of the judges of The Voice Nigeria.

Who Is Busola?

Busola Dakolo is a popular Nigerian Photographer. She worked as a banker in her early years and worked in Zenith bank for 3 years. Busola studied Geology and mineral resources at the University of Ilorin. She was born on the 3rd of October 1985. 

The Proposal, Wedding And Life After

Timi proposed to his wife by putting the ring in an empty plate. That morning, he was supposed to treat her to ‘breakfast in bed’. Busola said that she was sitting on the bed and Timi walked in with a plate covered with another plate. She took it from him and was surprised he was still standing there. She thought it was noodles like he said and then she opened it and saw a ring. 

After dating for two years, they got married on the 31st of March, 2012 in Global Impact church.

In the space of four years, the couple got blessed with three children, a boy and two girls and he was present in the labour room when she had all three, Alexander, Hallel and Zoe.  He was the first to hold his youngest daughter Zoe. 

The Dakolos are one Beautiful family that people love. They lived in peace without any third party or media scandal. This was up until Busola came out to talk about her Rape incident. 

Busola And Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Of COZA, Rape Saga.

In June 2019, Busola Dakolo came out to tell her story of how Pastor Fatoyinbo had raped her in 2002, two times in a week. While speaking on YouTube with Chude Jideonwo, she said he was the one that broke her virginity. She took the COZA lead pastor to court for intentionally inflicting and causing her continuous emotional distress. This was published on June 28 2019, on the channel, YNaija.

In November 2019, a Nigerian judge, Justice Oathman Musa, from the High court in Abuja, dismissed the case because she didn’t tell her story within the past 6 years permission. It took over a decade before she came out. According to the ruling, the case was empty and purely sentimental. 

After a year of speaking up and telling her story, the photographer took to her Instagram to update us on the case. She said that even though the case has been handed to the ministry of justice, she still smells foul play.

Presently the story has died and people believe that the Pastor had a connection at the Judiciary level because he had been called out for infidelity and rape several times. Amidst the chaos, the family still stood strong. 

Timi said that he and his wife have spoken to all three children about their mother’s rape incident. He said he loved how he brought up his kids and he doesn’t hide anything from them. By doing that they are free to tell him anything and everything too. The family have been having the time of their lives, going on vacations, celebrating birthdays and having fun.
