Timi Dakolo and Busola

Timi Dakolo, born January 20, 1981, rose to fame winning Idols West Africa in 2007 and went on to release albums like Beautiful Noise (2011) and The Chorus Leader (2024), blending soulful vocals with deep spiritual themes. He’s also a judge on The Voice Nigeria and has mentored rising artists such as Idyl, the winner of Season 2 under his team.

Busola Dakolo: Photographer, Scholar, and Advocate

Busola, Timi’s wife, is a former banker turned accomplished photographer and visual storyteller. A University of Ilorin graduate in Geology & Mineral Resources, she later earned a Master’s degree in International Business from Loughborough University, UK DNB Stories Africa. Her work captures powerful narratives, including portraits of survivors in Nigeria’s #MeToo movement.

Their Love Story: Grace, Persistence, and Giggles Over Garri

Timi first saw Busola at a House on the Rock service in Lagos. He approached her, asking why she was frowning in church. She responded with sass, claiming she didn’t know him. Months passed: he searched for her, learned she’d lost her phone, and eventually they became friends, which blossomed into love in 2010.

Despite humble beginnings, Timi famously drove Busola in his newly won Kia Picanto from Idols while she worked at a bank and gently chided his “local Ijaw” breakfast habits; younger years only deepened their bond.

A Marriage Shaped by Faith and Love

They were married on March 31, 2012, in Ilorin, Kwara State. Now celebrating over 12 years together, they share three children, Alexander, Zoe, and Hallel.

In March 2024, Timi celebrated their anniversary publicly, writing:

“12 years already… Thank you @busoladakolo for managing me like that.”

Busola responded with gratitude to God for a marriage marked by loyalty, peace, and divine companionship.

What Makes Their Love Endure

  • Faith at the Core: They nurtured their relationship within the church and spiritual values from the very start.

  • Humility & Humour: Timi’s “local Ijaw man” breakfast joke—garri and fisherman soup—became a loving anecdote rather than a source of tension.

  • Partnership & Growth: While Timi continues to impact gospel music globally, Busola steadily builds her photography brand and personal advocacy.

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: In interviews, they’ve shared how open dialogue helps them resolve differences, without bitterness, always with prayer and respect.

Timi and Busola Dakolo’s story is a powerful testament to how faith-filled beginnings, open-hearted communication, and shared patience can build a lasting partnership. Despite global success and public visibility, they nurture their marriage with humility, humour, and a deep mutual commitment.

They’ve risen together, not only as husband and wife—but as spiritual leaders, artists, and parents. Their journey continues to inspire countless couples who believe that love grounded in faith and authenticity can flourish beautifully.
