Compromise is a must in any remaining.

No matter how healthy your relationship with your partner is, you can’t always like the same thing.

There are going to be differences meaning at some point you have to sacrifice for the other person to stay happy.

There are times when you can’t happily coexist because one person is sacrificing their happiness for the other.

Your partner loves to go to the beach and you don’t, if they really miss it, you have to drop your fear of water and beaches and go with them. You are not happy that you are going but you are happy that your partner is happy and that makes you feel alright.

Compromise in a relationship shows that the relationship itself is more important than being ‘right’. It shows that your relationship is built on making decisions together and this is a very good thing.

What Does Compromise Look Like In A Healthy Relationship?

The Sacrifice Is Mutual

Since both of you have differences, you don’t have to be the one sacrificing yours all the time. They can do so too since they love you. You don’t have to be the one sacrificing your guys out to be with her when she can never miss any of her ladies’ appointments to be with you. Do you know that saying ‘Don’t make someone your priority when you are just an option? Use it.

Consistent one-sided sacrifice often leads to frustration and tiredness. Everyone should be willing to give up something to reach an agreement.

Good Communication

Communication is the cornerstone of every compromise. When there is good communication, any party will be able to speak up when they feel like they are being treated unfairly. When you speak, a new solution will be found and you won’t have to feel manipulated or disrespected.

Remember, good communication makes one very comfortable with the other person. It is through communication that you’ll know what your partner likes to know and when to even sacrifice in the first place.

Sacrificing For A Good Reason

it is not just about compromise, you should be doing that for a good course. In a healthy relationship, you may not always be happy with the decision you are making or about to make. Most times, those decisions are to make your partner happy. That is good intent meaning you are doing it for a good reason.

You have to be interested in seeing the disagreement settled and with that, you have to be willing to sacrifice.

Learning Each Other’s Arguing Style

You and your partner may not have the same arguing style. In some cases, one person may want to scream and call out the other person immediately for their wrongdoings and the other person may just want to be quiet or walk away when they are angry. You’ll eventually have to adjust and agree on how to communicate effectively because once the arguments become consistent, it will start to look like you can’t understand each other.

Money Matters

This is where most ladies find it hard to compromise. It is ok for him to spend his last penny on you but you find it hard for you to spend a kobo even if it’s not your last. A man is not a slave in a relationship. They deserve enjoyment too and need some pampering.

It is important to know that in a relationship, no one is supposed to feel overburdened, if you can genuinely help with something, then help.

If you both are sharing an apartment, you should get to an agreement on how you want to pay rent or contributions in provisions and household items. Things are easier when you do things together, not when one person feels like a liability. Negotiate. Work towards a solution you can both embrace and implement.

Life is not that hard.
