Popularly known for her character of ‘Kiki’ in the hit comedy Nigerian series; ‘Jenifa’, actress, Lota Chukwu went to her Twitter handle to talk about relationships and what she has been learning from them. Below are her tweets paraphrased:
‘One thing I’m learning about relationships is: even if you’re a self sufficient person, emotionally and every other way, you need to let people do things for you sometimes even if you don’t need it.
Because one day you’ll need it, and they are have never learned to give it you. That’s where resentment and hidden anger starts to come in.
Also, if you don’t make them give you, you’ll never know if they’re capable of satisfying that crave that is bound to come one day.
Also, this is why a lot of people who’re givers in relationships don’t even realize they’re being used. Usually takes them a very long time to realize the other party is taking them for iediat, because they’ve never consciously put themselves in a position to be given’.
Some moments after her tweet began to gain traction, Lota Chukwu revealed that she wasn’t talking just about romantic relationships because that was how it was being understood. The City People Awards nominee went on to tweet this:
‘Anyway, there are more types of relationships in life than romance/sexual relationships. Stop diminishing the beauty of “relationships” to simply only being relevant to “romantic or sexual” relationships’.
