Boy! This year was for sure a record breaking year for Nigerian celebrity couples because it recorded the highest rate of divorce and separation.

Some Nigerian celebrities who started the year 2022 as married couples, would be starting the new year 2023, as single pringles.

These celebrities proved just how human they are when their marriages crashed publicly.

It’s normal to want to place celebrities on a pedestal and often times we forget that they are just like us; humans.

Sometimes they win at life, sometimes they fail at it, and other times they just live for themselves.

These Nigerian Celebrity Marriages Ended In 2022

Anita and Paul Okoye

Rumors concerning Anita and Paul Okoye’s marriage separation first started to swirl back in 2020. While they’ve since stopped leaving with each other and have even moved on with new partners, their divorce got finalized in an Abuja high court on the 19th of December, 2022, months after a long court proceedings.

 

Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz 

In the early months of 2022, Funke Akindele shocked a lot of Nigerians when reports came out that her and her husband, JJC Skillz were separated.

While she was not the person to announce the breakup, she did not come out to debunk the post made by her husband that they were indeed over.

JJC Skillz came on Instagram to reveal to Nigerians that his marriage to Funke was officially over.

In his post, he did appear to have a lot of regrets over their situation, but, it seemed Funke Akindele was set in her ways about the marriage being over.

Korra Obidi and Justin Dean

Korra Obidi’s marriage separation from her American husband came as a surprise to all.

You see, they weee a picture of marital bliss on social media, always posting cute loved up videos of each other.

Their marriage separation also happened barely 2 weeks after Korra Obidi gave birth to their second child and daughter, Athena Dean.

It was really unbelievable at first, but, the eventual drama that ensued publicly between them made us understand that their marriage was really truly over.

Their divorce has since been finalized and Justin was even seen going on a date with a new woman that looked just like Korra.

 

Nkechi Blessing And Opeyemi Falegan

Nkechi Blessing and Opeyemi Falegan’s separation has got to be one of the messiest celebrity separations of 2022.

At some point, the duo resorted to trading insults and calling out each other in the most demanding way in Instagram.

While we don’t know for certain if they were actually legally married, their relationship have come to a bitter end and all we can hope for is that they’ve birth found peace of mind.

Yewande Adekoya and Abiodun Ishola

In April of 2022, Yewande Adekoya came on Instagram to announce her split from her husband.

She revealed that she has been a victim of emotional abuse for the longest time and that he had never treated her right.
