Shakira– Relationship Timeline

This article is going to be all about the world’s famous pop star, Shakira. As famous and beautiful as she is, she has not been involved with a lot of men as the majority of her relationships were long-term. Her last relationship with Gerald Pique was the longest and it was about 12 years before it crashed in June 2022. Before then Shakira has been in past relationships. Before diving into that, let’s know who Shakira is.

Who Is Shakira? 

Shakira Isabel Mebarak is a Colombian musician who is very popular for her amazing songs in English and Spanish and is known for twisting her waist. She is regarded as the queen of Latin music. Shakira is currently single after breaking up with Gerald. 

Shakira And Her Past Relationship

Shakira and Osvaldo Rios

It has reportedly been said that Shakira dated Osvaldo when she was 20 years old. Osvaldo is a Telenovela star from ‘PUERTO RICO’. Shakira has confirmed their relationship once publicly but Osvaldo has confirmed it plenty of times. She stated that they dated for 8 months and they were in love.  Her song, “Moscas en la Casa” on her “¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?” album was about him.

Shakira and Antonio de la Rua

They were in a long-term relationship from 2000-2010. She announced their breakup in a now-deleted post on her website in January 2011, but from the post, they had broken up since August 2010. Antonio is the son of the former Argentina president and Lawyer, Fernando de la Rua. Shakira and her ex used to be business partners even after the breakup. When Shakira broke their partnership, they sued her for 100 million dollars. The case was dismissed and everybody moved on to other things. 

Shakira and Gerald and Pique

Shakira said that she wanted to have a lot of babies with Gerald. She said she wanted to have 8 kids and create her own football team.

“If it weren’t because of my music projects, I would be pregnant already [with a second child],” she added. “I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard — my own [soccer] team. When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel.” She said to LATINA MAGAZINE for the April cover issue in 2014. 

How Did They Meet? 

The two met on the set of Shakira’s music video, Waka Waka. Gerald is a professional Spanish footballer and according to Shakira, it was love at first sight. 

They started dating in 2011 and ended things in 2022. In February 2022 Shakira stated that they were having issues because they had different upbringings. 

“My poor husband, slash boyfriend, slash baby daddy, whatever you want to call him, he has to wait up for me so long. He’s tired of waiting up.”

“Because Colombian time is not the same as Catalonian time, Spanish time. His mind is structured like that and mine. I’ve become a lot more punctual since I met him. But the times that we actually fight is because I’m late and he’s waiting up.” She jokingly said this in a podcast Planet Weirdo With Holly H in February. In June, the couple shocked the world when they announced their breakup in a joint statement obtained by the Reuters 

 “For the wellbeing of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.” They asked for privacy from the media.

Sakira and Gerald have two children together. Milan and Sasha.
