Meeting a person in the club or on the street and hitting it up right away doesn’t happen all the time. It can become so intense that you wake up the next morning finding them besides you on the bed. Usually, we call that ‘one-night stand’ and it’s usually casual but not with Sam Smith.
In ‘Stay with Me’, Sam Smith reflected on his one-night-stand which he had fallen in love with. Although he had made his intentions known countless times, his love was not returned. In the song, he asks himself why he is so emotional and as a man, he should gain self-control as he pleads with the victim of his unrequited love to lay beside him to make the pain go away.
Sam Smith is an English Singer and Songwriter, with a mesmerizing and soulful voice. When he sings, you can tell he sings from the heart and a cumulation of his past experiences. His hit single ‘Stay with Me’ was released in 2014 and peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Global 200 list. ‘Stay with Me’ was included in Sam Smith’s debut album, ‘In the Lonely Hour’ which presented him with four Grammy Awards. Sam Smith went on to say that the album was written from a dark place and at a time where he was very troubled.
