Ryan Anderson is still coming to terms with his breakup from Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Despite their split in March, the 37-year-old is trying to piece together what led to their divorce after two years of marriage, one of which Gypsy spent behind bars.
In an exclusive interview with E! News’ Francesca Amiker, Ryan shared his thoughts on the breakup. “I have some ideas,” he said. “Personally, I think outside influences got involved. And I don’t want to pinpoint it yet, because I’m still processing, but I’d go to work and then her mind would just run rampant. And I’m still trying to figure out how did it happen so fast?”
Ryan described feeling blindsided by how quickly the situation escalated. “That’s my thing, when I say I’m blindsided—really, I’m blindsided about how fast things occur. It’s like a snowball and I haven’t been able to stop it. It’s just one of those where it’s gonna continue to roll.”

Reflecting on their relationship during their months apart, Ryan considered the impact of “outside forces” on their marriage. He suggested that people in Gypsy’s inner circle influenced her thoughts and decisions. “I mean people in her inner circle, things like that got in her head,” he explained. “It just turned it.”
Since their breakup, Gypsy has reunited with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. Meanwhile, their relationship is being documented in the new series *Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up*, which follows the 32-year-old’s life after her release from prison in December. Gypsy served seven years for her role in the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
For Ryan, adjusting to life in the spotlight has been challenging. “There’s a lot to process, it’s weird watching yourself on TV,” he reflected. “I’m not used to that. It’s new.”
Ryan and Gypsy lived together for a few months following her release from prison. However, Gypsy filed for divorce in April and requested a temporary restraining order against him. Despite the public scrutiny on their relationship, Ryan continues to process and understand the whirlwind of events that led to their separation.
