Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministry has spoken on the reason why there is an alarming rate of divorces across the globe.
He boiled it down to ideologies that most couples have when entering into marriages.
Speaking during a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the famous pastor stated that a lot of people now go into marriages with divorce in their mind as an alternative when the slightest things go wrong. They’re no longer willing to stick it out during tough times and would rather go the easy route.
He said it is bad for a couple to go into a marriage to expecting divorce, he also urged his church members to accept marriage with the mindset to being together forever with their partner.
In his words,
“They say that in every marriage there must be trouble and if you ask them why they say when we marry, we would expect.”
“Look, I am going in, if it doesn’t work then I’ll step out”. I can tell you that you will divorce because from the beginning you have a faulty expectation. Why must you expect that you will pack out?”
“When you have a strong expectation, you won’t be confused by anything, you’re sure that this thing must happen”.
