From Belieber to Mrs Bieber (The story of Hailey and Justin Bieber)

Hailey Baldwin, the supermodel, media personality and socialite, used to be a fan of Justin Bieber and he was her childhood celebrity crush. In fact, she first met him backstage in 2009 during his appearance on the TODAY show where she was introduced to him by her dad, Steve Baldwin who noted that Hailey was a big fan of Justin during the introduction. Hailey was Twelve years old then. Who would have thought she would date him let alone get married to him? She turned from a Belieber to Mrs Bieber but the ride wasn’t easy. There was some back and forth between their relationship and some third parties.

   In case you didn’t know, the fans of Justin Bieber are called Beliebers. 

In 2011, they bumped into each other at the premiere of Justin’s Never Say Never movie. Then, he was still dating the musician and actor, Selena Gomez. He was in a relationship with Selena from 2010-to 2013 and during these periods, they went on and off.

On the 27th of December 2015, he was seen with Hailey on a romantic dinner at Mr. Chow in New York, which was followed by an even more romantic movie date. The next morning, they were also spotted at a diner in New Jersey. This raised speculations that they probably spent the night together.

On 30th December 2015, Hailey and Justin went on a vacation. The pictures posted by Justin on his Instagram page sparked the news that the duo might be dating.

On the 4th of January, 2016, he posted a picture where they were making out and this was proof that they were in a relationship.

On the 10th of February same year, Hailey tells E! that they are not an exclusive couple.

“We are not an exclusive couple. He’s about to go on tour. Relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don’t really like to talk about it because it’s between me and him.” She said.

 The next day, which was the 11th, in an interview with GQ Justin supported what Hailey said stating that he loves Hailey so much but he doesn’t want to be held down by anything.

“I don’t want to feel like the girl I love is an added responsibility,” he said. “I know that in the past, I’ve hurt people and said things that I didn’t mean to make them happy at moment. So now I’m just more so looking at the future, making sure I’m not damaging them. What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged.”

On August 15, 2016, Justin unfollowed Hailey and the reason according to a close source with the subject was that he was jealous of her close friendship with the rapper, Drake. Justin Drake and Hailey still have a close relationship because in 2020, Drake featured the couples in his music video, Popstar. 

Every relationship has its setbacks and theirs was no different. After that incident, they took a break from each for a long time and then he got back with Selena Gomez in late 2017. Hailey Baldwin herself had a couple of guys she dated before settling down with Justin Bieber but many of these speculations turned out to be false. 

In 2016, as I said, she was rumoured to be dating Drake. They were caught cosying up with each other at parties and appearing everywhere together, but nothing was ever confirmed by the two.

 April-June 2017, it was rumoured that she was dating her Colleague, Cameron Dallas. He is a model too and both of them were signed under the same agency, IMG. They have been friends for a long time but their cosy relationship didn’t last up to four months.

October 2017-May 2018, she was with Shawn Mendes. The both of them never confirmed to be dating but on several occasions, they were caught together holding hands and several sources confirmed that they were in a relationship. Hailey also asked Shawn Mendes to be her date at the Met Gala in May 2018 and a few weeks after, the duo broke up.

At this time Justin was still in his relationship with Gomez and a month after Hailey and Shawn broke up, he called it off with his long time off and on girlfriend. He broke up with Selena and he and Hailey got back together as friends in June, after they bumped into each other at a church conference in Miami. 

The universe has its way of bringing two love birds back together. 

On June 29, 2018, a source confirmed that they were dating again. On July 7 2018, they got engaged in the Bahamas.

I’ll say Justin wasn’t ready to allow another man to take his girl. He had to secure his price fast. Two eyewitnesses said they were at a restaurant and Justin’s security asked everyone to drop their phones cause he was about to do something and then he proposed to her in front of everyone. Later on, Justin took to his Instagram page to announce their engagement with a long heartfelt post.

In September 2018, Alec Baldwin, Hailey’s Uncle, confirmed that they are married legally, that is, a court wedding but Hailey was particular about a church wedding. She said marriage with God was the main thing. 

On the 22nd of November 2018, Justin posted on his Instagram, wishing everybody a happy Thanksgiving. He also expressed how glad he was to be celebrating Thanksgiving as a family man and also hosting it for both his family and his wife’s family.

The couples who had told us to “save the date, February 28, 2019,” postponed their white wedding. They said they were still going to have a white wedding but they had bigger priorities. On March 22 2019, they got a house in Beverly hills. It was a lovely 6,132-square-foot home in one of the most expensive areas of Los Angeles. They lived there together happily and even did a prank on the 1st of April, for April fools, saying Hailey was pregnant.

Finally, after almost a year of just court marriage, the couple got married in church on the 30th of September 2019. It was a beautiful day for both of them. Hailey took to her Instagram to post their wedding pictures. The wedding ceremony took place at Montage Palmetto Bluff, a luxury resort in Bluffton, South Carolina. According to a source from E! News, “Guests arrived by boat to the rehearsal dinner on the Palmetto property. Several water taxis took guests over around 6:30 p.m. The dinner was on the edge of the water. There were many string lights hanging and lit candles. The dècor was very chic and white.”

They also celebrated one year of being together since their court wedding which was at a New York City courthouse.  In January 2020 on the ELLEN DEGENERES show, Justin had said that he wasn’t so scared that he’ll be turned down but was more scared that he might not be able to make his commitment as a man and be able to honour what he said. 

They later sold their house of $8.5 million  for $7.955 million and then purchased a bigger house for a whooping sum of $25.8 million.  

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the couple joked about how they were keeping themselves ‘busy’ and they also said they were not ready to expand the family and make babies yet. 

The couples marked their 2nd anniversary on the 13th of September, 2020 and also marked the 1st anniversary of their second wedding.  Sometime in April 2021, the Love Yourself singer revealed that his marriage with Hailey wasn’t easy and that both of them need to put in work. He said this in an interview with GQ

“The first year of marriage was really tough because there was a lot going back to the trauma. There was just a lack of trust. There was all these things that you don’t want to admit to the person that you’re with, because it’s scary. You don’t want to scare them off by saying, ‘I’m scared.’”

September 2021, they both went to the Met Gala together and also celebrated their third year together.

It was quite awkward for Hailey because the last time she was there, she was with Shawn Mendes and now, Shawn was also there with his new lover, Camilla Cabello. 

Selena Gomez fans who were still angry at the break up between Justin and their idol began to chant ‘Selena’ in front of Hailey and Justin. It was a sad time for Hailey. She wore her dark sunshades to prevent the paparazzi from capturing her tears. Justin was with her all through. He stood by her and comforted her. 

The couples have been standing strong together and a source said Hailey has also made him a better person. He said Justin is now much more approachable and he talks to his fans when he sees them outside. They definitely complement each other.

 Hailey was admitted to a Palm Springs area hospital on March 10, 2022, after experiencing “stroke-like symptoms.” The model opened up about her health scare two days later through her Instagram Stories.

In May, Justin in an interview with Apple music’s Ebro Darden said that he hit a little bit of emotional breakdown when he first got married because he thought being married will fix all his problems and it sure didn’t. He has turned to God to work him through and he has said that he’s going to take everything slowly and patiently with love. 

The ‘Anyone’ singer is currently on his Justice music tour with his wife right by his side.
