Blind Dates

A blind date is a social engagement between two people who have never met before and it’s mostly organised by mutual friends. You hear someone saying she linked her girlfriend with a guy friend of hers. Sometimes you could be linking a family member with a friend, either way, as long as they have never met, it’s a blind date. Sounds weird?

Some people have actually met their life partners on blind dates and some have gotten really amazing friends from it, but not all blind dates are happily ever after.

How do you get a successful blind date?

Firstly, the matchmaker has to know you. When the matchmaker knows you, he/she will be able to pair you with someone they think you’ll like. They know what you like and what you don’t, your values, beliefs, spec and so on. Once the matchmaker is a stranger, there’s a high chance that the date will go wrong.

Keep your insecurities at home. I know you are meeting for the first time and you are probably scared of everything that is happening around the world, but you need to relax. That’s the reason why knowing your matchmaker is really important because if you know them, you’ll have some trust that they won’t leave you with a criminal. Anything can happen too so you still have to be careful just don’t make it too obvious that you are scared of them. Act cool. Acting like you are scared can be offensive. They begin to think, ‘Am I looking like a criminal? Is it my baggy crazy jeans?’ I know you don’t want to hurt your date on the first day.

Don’t over Anticipate.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. In fact, in this case, it’s best to expect disappointment so you won’t be down when you are finally disappointed. It will be more like you saw it coming. Once you begin to anticipate and daydream about the date you are having with your best friend’s brother, you might get there and it will not play out exactly as you planned or he’s not what you thought he would be. It would be a blow to the knee.

Things To Do And Where To Go On A Blind Date.

Honestly, it will be unwise to go on a blind date in a private place. You can go to places like;

A Restaurant: Restaurants never get old. They are classy and calm. You definitely know what they do in a restaurant, eat, talk and get to know each other. As a foodie, restaurants will always be my favourite.

Street Food Market: This is for those that like the outdoors and a few people, noise and music. You can eat and also take walks while holding hands. Common, start from somewhere. Hold her hand.

Mall: Ok! Where are my Team Malls? Hands in the air. A mall is a beautiful place. It has restaurants, stores, cinemas and game rooms. You can play games, sit and talk, watch movies, shop…whatever you want to do!

Zoo: LOL! I will definitely love zoo dates. If you are a lover of animals or you haven’t been to the zoo you should try it, it’s fun. Extremely fun. Don’t go near anything wild. You can take amazing pictures.

Art Gallery: This is calm and beautiful. Just calm music, you and your date, a glass of wine and the beautiful pieces of art hung around the wall. Most galleries have a cafe so you can stay longer and talk if you want to.

Advantages Of Blind dates

As funny as it seems, people go out on dates without knowing each other and sometimes without knowing what they look like or what they even like. This date still turns out fine and enjoyable. Why should you go on a blind date?

Excitement And Surprise: Surprise comes with excitement. So because you have never met that person, you begin to think and create a picture of what the person is like and also looks like.  In a situation where you don’t know his physique. “Is she tall? Is he tall? I don’t want to be taller than him. He looks fat.”

You are constantly on your toes thinking about what your partner would be like and if you two would be compatible with each other.

Everybody likes adventures and blind dates are definitely one. There’s even a probability you could meet your soulmate. Isn’t that exciting?? From there, you have a fun story to tell! You also get to connect with a person and it could lead to genuine friendship. The point is, when you are going on a blind date, you really don’t know the outcome. Everything is likely to happen and likely not to. That’s the surprise.

Disadvantages Of Going On A Blind Date

As they say, there are two sides to a coin. There are also two sides to Blind dates. In as much as testimonies come out from it, people have also given warnings and told stories about their bad experiences.

Sometimes your matchmaker might bring someone they think you should date, not someone you want to. You know, some people see you and say, this is the kind of person you’ll like…they really don’t know that. The person who knows that is you.

If anything goes wrong on the date, there will be tension between you and the friend that pairs you with your date. Normally, the matchmaker is usually a mutual friend between the two parties who have never met(the girl and the boy.) If for instance, you were matched with a lady by your friend and then she comes to hang out as planned and she has a silly attitude or does something really wrong, you begin to wonder why your friend paired you up with this kind of person. This brings issues to a lot of friendships

If you are really shy person, I won’t recommend blind dates to you because it’s not a good way to develop confidence. Also, for security reasons, do not go on blind dates in private places. We don’t want to carry your pictures with the hashtag, JUSTICEFOR…..
