Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got married on the 18th of July, 2022 and this only proves that the duo are indeed meant for each other.
The lovebirds originally dated back in the early 2000’s, got engaged, broke up and then got married to different people.
Despite the odds, they still found a way back to each other after almost two decades apart, confirming that they were indeed each other’s soul mate from the beginning.
The pair got married in a really intimate ceremony in Italy and these are 5 details of their wedding that you should know.
1. They Almost did not get married
They had t wait in line for other couples to get married so that they could obtain their marriage license and they almost could not make it in tie for their wedding.
Luckily for them, the chapel that they got married kept their doors open for them.
In her newsletter which she shared with her fans, she said
“They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed),” she wrote. “They even had Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle.”
2. They had an intimate ceremony
Their wedding ceremony was a private family affair and they had very few witnesses as an audience which were mostly her children. (She shares twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Ben Affleck, her current husband shares his kids Violet, Seraphina and Samuel with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.)
She continued in her news letter
“Stick around long enough and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive through in Las Vegas at twelve thirty in the morning in the tunnel of love drive through, with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with,” she wrote in her newsletter. “Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things-and worth waiting for.”
3 . Jennifer Lopez Took Ben’s Last Name
It is so normal for celebrities to want to retain their last names after getting married, but, for Jennifer Lopez she was ecstatic and had always wanted to take Ben Affleck’s last name.
At the end of her wedding wrap-up newsletter, she wrote to her fans
“Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things — and worth waiting for,” she signed off. “With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
Legal documents reviewed by Billboard also indicate the name change, with the marriage license listing both “Party 2 Name: Lopez, Jennifer” and “Party 2 New Name: Affleck, Jennifer.” She had previously revealed back in 2003 when they first got engaged that she was going to take his surname.
4. Her Wedding Dress was a dress from an old movie
The singer didn’t spend the last 30 years being a fashion trendsetter to just wear one dress on her wedding day.
Lopez first wore a simple yet elegant looking dress which she revealed was from an old movie.
She accompanied her wedding dress with some cute bouncy curls and a stunning classy make up look.
5. Ben’s Suit Was A Relic From His Past
Ben Affleck also wore something he already owned from his wardrobe: a tasteful white suit jacket for their wedding.
Lopez shared a video of him after getting dressed in the wedding chapel’s small pink men’s bathroom.
He also indulged in a quick mirror video to show his full fit just before their wedding.
The soulmates were more interested in the intimacies of a wedding rather than a grandiose wedding with a lot of spotlight and media attention on them. Safe to say, they got exactly what they were looking for.
