It’s mere hours to 2023 and to help you in your dating life for 2023, I have compiled 5 major pointers and guidelines that will help you date “better” in the new year.

Give People A Chance During A Date

A lot of the times people judge a person through that one first date.

First impression does matter, but, the question is, should it matter.

Sometimes, your date deserves another chance to really get comfortable with you so that they can show more of themselves to you.

Sometimes, getting connected with someone takes more time than an “instant connection.

A lot of the time, people are so nerve wracked during a first date that they might stutter and act out of character. This is only due to their nerves.

In 2023, learn to be accepting and to give your first dates more chances to meet you and for you to meet their personality on a deeper level.

Don’t Post Your First Date On Social Media

It’s okay to post people you’re in relationship with on social media, but, posting someone who you’re just meeting for the first time and just went on a first date with on your socials is not advisable.

He’s not your boyfriend yet. She’s not your girlfriend yet. So many things can go wrong.

If you feel the need to share, then you can post it on your WhatsApp and if possible make sure it’s been seen by just a selected group of close friends.

Be Honest And Upfront

It is extremely necessary that you are truthful

about what you want while dating. You should also be with someone who is truthful about what they want.

Some people are dating to marry. Some are not.

Find out where you are and communicate it with the person you’re going on dates with.

Also, you want make sure that the person you’re dating is being vocal about what he/she wants out of a relationship.

Being honest prevents unnecessary time being wasted.

No Ex Conversations

Please let’s leave this ghetto behavior behind in 2022. Who still talks about their ex?

Certainly not the new you.

In case you didn’t already know, a big deal breaker can be when you’re always talking about your ex.

It gives off the sense that you’re not fully healed. Nobody wants to start a relationship with someone who is still hung up over their ex.

The same way you don’t want to talk about your ex, is the same way you don’t want to see them talk about their exes.

Shut them down politely when they bring up the subject and let them know how uncomfortable they might make You feel.

Don’t Have Sex On The First Date

It’s okay to find your date attractive, but, having sex on the first date is not the way to secure that relationship.

First of all, you’re just meeting this person and you don’t know where they’ve been and who they’ve slept with.

You could contract an STD.

Also, sleeping with them on the first date can have you emotionally bound to them and cloud your judgement on actually dating them.

Dress Up And Show Up

When going out for dates, as tempting as it is, do not chose comfort over style.

If you can find a great style that is still comfortable then great for you.

Remember, the date is not all about you, it’s about you and another individual.

Dressing in an average way gives the impression that you do not take the date seriously hence the lack of effort.

This might be upsetting to your date unknown to you.

Also, always remember to show up for planned dates. If at any point In time you decide to cancel or you’re unsure, please let them know immediately so that they can avoid disappointment or being stood up.
