Plan Ahead

If you’re a married couple, you need to need have a plan for your future. Map out specific goals and targets that you want to achieve with your partner. Having goals that you can work towards with your partner makes your relationship deeper and even more meaningful.

Quality time

It is great when couples spend some good time together, or have a tradition. Pastor Adeyemi recommends all the lovebirds to set an unmovable date, when they can put all the other plans away and spend some time only in each other’s company. It can be every two weeks or at least once a month.

Forgive easily

Making mistakes is part of the human life. Nobody is perfect and at some point in our lives we will bring disappointment to the people we love. Being able to forgive them and not just forgive but doing in quickly is very important for a long lasting marriage.

Holding grudges are completely bad for a marriage. It’s okay to have your moment of frustration and anger but learn to let it go. Do not hold it or consistently use it against them. It might be difficult but it is an important trait to learn.

Listen

A majority of us have a problem with listening to what our partner has to say. Many people hear, but they do not listen. In order to have a successful marriage, people need to listen to each other. This will improve the communication between them, which might come in handy in times of hardship.

Be sensitive to your partner’s emotions

For your relationship with your husband or wife to thrive,  you have to lean to become attuned with them. You should be able to hear them even when they’re not speaking. You should also be able to feel some of the things they feel. It’s not enough to just be sensitive to their feelings, you also have to work hard in fulfilling their needs and making sure that they feel good around you

Always treat them with importance

After being in a relationship for quite some time, you might start to take the presence of the other person in your life for granted. You absolutely cannot do that! Even though you are supposed to stick together through thick and thin, things might change in a matter of seconds and separate you. Therefore, cherish and respect your other half, treat them well, and your relationship will become more passionate because of it.

Always Pray

Prayer is everything. A 3 fold cord cannot be broken easily. It is important that you and your partner establish a relationship with God. Thank God, praise Him, Ask for forgiveness, Ask Him to grant your heart desires. Always Go to God first for anything.

Develop Each other

While it is important for us to grow as individuals, it is also important that people who are in a relationship grow together. The more you grow, the stronger your marriage becomes. In addition, you need to be sure you are heading in the same direction. Because what is the point in being together if you are heading different ways?

Value leadership

It might seem surprising, but leadership does not mean that there has to be only one leader. Both partners need to be able to take control of the situation in their own hands and be able to lead the family in the right direction. Both of the partners need to set the example for others, especially their own children.

Comparison Is Deadly

You should not under any circumstances, compare your partner to others. That could be extremely damaging. Every relationship is unique from the other and human beings are unique too so you cannot use your previous relationships to measure your current one. You should start a new story with your partner without likening them or comparing them to an ex or someone else.

Build each other up every waking day

Hype each other through things. Be your partners strength in times when they’re weak. Be positive when they feel negative, hold their hands when they are  feeling lost.  Refrain from putting your partner down or using demeaning and insult I’ve words on them.

Understand the love language of your partner

You should be able to understand the love language your partner easily responds to. You do not want to practicing a love language that they do not believe in or cannot communicate with. Find out their language so that when you speak it to the , they can hear you clearly.
