We Had Something Special (Yvonne Nelson And Iyanya)

The Ghanian actress, Yvonne Nelson once said that her relationship with the Nigerian Musician Iyanya was something special even though they only dated for about 8 months.

Even as an ace actress she still had some flaws and that was her relationship with Iyanya. Yvonne was indeed in love as she never feared to talk about the musician in public. She gushed over him every minute she got. He even featured her in one of his greatest hits ” Your Waist”.

Unlike Yvonne, Iyanya saw their relationship as mere friendship. In an interview when Iyanya was asked to comment about their relationship after they went out to the beach together, he denied it and said there were mere rumours peddled by detractors.

“We were just chilling at the beach. She’s just a friend. I really care about her. There’s nothing between us. We are cool. She is a darling to me,”

Even though the musician believed that they were mere friends, Yvonne took it to another level stating that Iyanya had dumped her for other women. In 2013, Yvonne said this,

“We dated for seven to eight months. We had something and I thought it was special like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing. Aside from the actress that was in the picture,”

Responding to this, Iyanya said that he never really loved her. He even made things worse by calling her name while freestyling his popular song, Kukere in the UK. He sang,

“Yvonne Nelson, I lost your medicine. She called that she’s coming over and I rode her like a jangolova. All I want is your waist, no emotions, no tears, no letters, no love, no nothing. All I want is your waist, she ain’t even know it. She brought emotions.”

Iyanya later revealed that the media framed things up and he and Yvonne relationship ended because they hardly had time for each other because they both had busy jobs. He stated that being Iyanya was already a lot of work. He said that at the time he was dating her, he was hustling so he didn’t reject shows because of a woman. He also added that he could do four shows a day just to make money and sometimes she would fly down from Ghana to Nigeria and he’ll be so busy in those shows.

Asides from Iyanya, she has been linked with other men. In fact, she has had a rough love life. Even though she has a beautiful face and a great body, she seems to be attracting the wrong men.

There were speculations that she dated her fellow Ghanaian movie star, John Dumelo because of how close they were, and the pictures and videos they posted on social media. They claimed to be ‘besties’. While speaking about his relationship with his bestie, John Dumelo said this,

“The truth is that Yvonne and I have been good friends for a long time. Apart from the fact that we are colleagues who take our job seriously, we also look out for ourselves like good friends do. I think by now, you should know that we are good friends. She has come out to deny the rumour several times.”

He added that even though the public wanted them to be more than friends, they couldn’t be because they could be good friends only.

Without making or talking about a particular man, the actress stated that she loved Nigerian men. She said this in an interview when she was asked about her rumoured relationship with Jim Iyke.

The actress debunked this rumour fast stating that they only shot a movie together titled “Back to Back”. During the interview, she said that she picked him up and dropped him at his hotel after the set and there was nothing more.

Yes, the beautiful six feet Ghanaian actress is a mother of one, a beautiful girl child. Her baby daddy is called Jamie Roberts. He is a British photographer and businessman. Yvonne once hinted that she got proposed to but she had to move to London. The choice was a hard one for her because she was an African actress who made money here. She stated that London had nothing for her so she stayed back to continue her career.

The two kept their relationship a secret till Yvonne gave birth in 2017. Even after finding out that Yvonne was pregnant, the media didn’t figure out who the baby daddy was immediately. There were speculations that John Dumelo was the father but the actor came out to clear the air herself and said Jamie Roberts was the father of her daughter.

In 2019, Yvonne deleted all her loved-up pictures with Jamie on her Instagram page and this was how people figured out that things had gone sour for the two. They both unfollowed each other on the app.

Yvonne Nelson is still single and is presently not interested in getting married.
