Tuface a renowned Nigerian artist and performer with the birth name Innocent Idibia, has separated from his wife, Annie Idibia.
The pair, who tied the knot in 2012, have been celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most iconic celebrity couples. They share two daughters and have often been in the spotlight for their high-profile relationship.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the “African Queen” crooner announced that the couple had been separated for some time and had initiated divorce proceedings. Although the post was removed shortly after, 2Baba later released a video confirming the accuracy of its content.
As one of the pioneers of Nigeria’s global music scene, 2Baba is credited with paving the way for contemporary stars like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. His and Annie’s lavish wedding ceremony in 2013, held in Dubai, garnered massive attention across Nigeria and beyond.
Despite changing his stage name to 2Baba in 2014, the singer remains widely recognized by his original moniker, Tuface.
The news of the separation has left fans across Africa stunned, as the couple was considered a symbol of resilience, having weathered previous challenges in their marriage.
In his video statement, 2Baba disclosed plans to hold a press conference to share more details about the separation. He emphasized his desire to communicate directly with fans and supporters.
“I and Annie Macauley have been separated for a while now, and I’ve filed for divorce,” he stated in his Instagram post.
Shortly after, the post was deleted and replaced with claims of a hacked account. However, 2Baba later went live on Instagram to clarify the situation, firmly stating, “No one hacked my account; I said what I said. I come in peace.”
The couple has since unfollowed each other on social media, further confirming their split.
Their relationship reportedly blossomed after Annie played the love interest in the video for 2Baba’s hit song, “African Queen.” Annie, now an actor, recently made headlines when she opened up about personal struggles in their marriage, including a miscarriage and challenges related to 2Baba’s other relationships, on the reality series Young, Famous & African.
This revelation marks the end of a relationship admired across the continent, with fans eagerly awaiting more details from the artist’s promised press conference.
