Today, Let’s explore one of his many teachings dating as a single person Christian person.
In a question and answer session for Affirmation Train feature Pastor Chris revealed that the right time to date is when an individual is responsible for themselves.
When you’re still living with your parents and have them provide all important needs, then you’re not responsible for yourself. Attempting to date at that to me will be a precipice to disaster.
He also continued by saying in his words y
“Now, usually dating is something that should be done when you know the right direction to go.

But, in the world, it is done as “I’m trying to find out”, “I’m trying to know if this is the right person for me”; that’s what it is generally in the world. “I’m trying to find out whether she’s nice, whether she’s good, whether she’s okay for me”, and if I think so then I go ahead and say “well, maybe this is the person I would like to marry”. But, in Christ things are the other way; we don’t try to find out by dating first.
We know first and date after. See, we don’t date to try and find out if you are right after; we know first that you are right and then we date. That’s the difference. So, it means that you have to have the kind of understanding, spiritual understanding and maturity to make the right decision, or even better, decisions are made for you.”
Pastors Chris also talks about obedience to God when it comes to dating or relationships. It is extremely important that you listen to God before starting any relationship.
That way you are not wasting your time and also sinning against god.
He continued by revealing that for us Christian’s we are not supposed to know who we want immediately. Sometimes who or what we want could be completely different from what God wants from us.

This is why we should always have the consciousness of calling in our minds.
Will getting into a relationship be what’s best for me?
Will it grow or benefit me?
Will it lead you away from God?
The only person that gives you spiritual guidance is God. He declared that it was not right to only believe the words of pastors before getting into a relationship or marriage. You should always personally wait for God’s directive first.

He likened this to the story of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.
Jacob was able to obey God by marrying the right person God had asked him to. He had the spiritual guidance of his father.
Even when Leah was given to him instead of Rachel, he still did an additional 7 years of intense labor just so that he could marry Rachel and obey God’s will. Things always ends up well for people who put God in the center of their relationship.
Pastor Chris concluded with this insightful message on love and dating. He talked about how difficult it can be to make God an important part of your relationship.. It can be draining and exhausting especially if the other party isn’t on the same spiritual wavelength. However, In the long run, it is completely worth it. You will be better versed at handling relationship problems and resolving them.

No matter how deep or intense a relationship might feel, if you do not involve God in it, it will be hard to thrive in it.
