Nollywood veteran, Joke Silva, recently spoke about the challenges in her marriage with fellow actor Olu Jacobs. In an interview with popular media personality and actress, Nancy Isime, she opened up about how Olu Jacobs’ ailment, dementia, has profoundly impacted their relationship.
Silva candidly reflected on their early years together, acknowledging that the journey hasn’t been easy. She revealed that there came a point where she had to accept the reality of their situation – that the person she had married was no longer fully present about 80% of the time due to the effects of dementia.
While discussing how her husband’s battle with dementia had affected their connection, Joke Silva recalled the wonderful moments they shared in the past. She described Olu Jacobs as an incredible father to their children and an amazing husband. He was not just a spouse but also her closest confidant and best friend.
Despite the changes in her husband’s condition, Joke Silva expressed her enduring love for him. She acknowledged that the man she once knew might not be fully there anymore, but she still cherishes the person he has become amidst the challenges of dementia.
