Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who became widely known for her involvement in the 2015 killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, has announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
This news comes shortly after her release from prison, where she served a sentence for her role in the crime, a case that garnered significant media attention and public sympathy due to the severe abuse she endured at the hands of her mother.
Gypsy’s tumultuous life has been well-documented. Dee Dee Blanchard, who suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, forced her daughter to fake severe illnesses and undergo unnecessary medical treatments to garner attention and sympathy.
This abuse led Gypsy to conspire with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder her mother, an act she felt was her only escape from her torment. Gypsy was sentenced to ten years in prison, while Godejohn received a life sentence without parole.

A New Chapter
Now 32, Gypsy announced her pregnancy in a heartfelt YouTube video, revealing that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Ken Urker.
The couple’s relationship began while Gypsy was still incarcerated, with Urker initially being a pen pal. Despite the unconventional start, Gypsy expresses a deep commitment to building a family together, emphasizing that her primary focus is to be a loving and supportive mother, a stark contrast to her own upbringing.
In her announcement, Gypsy shared her excitement and emotions about the pregnancy. “I am 11 weeks pregnant,” she revealed, “and I am overwhelmed with happiness.” She expressed a strong desire to give her child all the love and support she lacked during her own childhood. “All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby,” she said, shedding tears of joy and determination.
Gypsy acknowledged that some people might doubt her readiness to be a mother given her past. However, she dismissed these concerns, stating that no one is ever truly ready for parenthood. “It’s an amazing feeling when your whole world shifts and suddenly it’s not about you,” she said. “It’s about this tiny little life that you are now in charge of protecting.”

Building a New Life
The announcement of her pregnancy comes after a period of significant personal changes for Gypsy. She was previously married to Ryan Scott Anderson, a special education teacher, but the couple separated earlier this year. Now reunited with Urker, Gypsy is focused on creating a stable and loving environment for their child. She emphasized their mutual commitment to not repeating the patterns of their own troubled childhoods, stating, “Whatever we face, we’ll face it together.”
Looking Forward
Gypsy’s journey from a life of abuse to becoming a mother has been fraught with challenges.
However, she remains hopeful and dedicated to providing a better future for her child. “I want to be everything my mother wasn’t,” she affirmed, indicating her resolve to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.
