Before you go by Lewis Calpidi is talking about suicide and the aftermath of it. How people to start to blame themselves for not loving the person enough and for not being there. The Chorus says,

It kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless”

He said it was something his family had experienced and it much more serious than a heart break.  His aunt committed suicide and he talked about how his mum felt. First she was angry at her for doing it without thinking of the people she left behind. Then she was mad at her self for not being there to have known she was depressed.
