RMD and Jumobi, Love Story, Family and Children

Can we talk about long-lasting relationships and beautiful couples without mentioning RMD and Jumobi? Impossible! They are the ones to make you smile at your screen and believe that if you just hold on, you’ll end up with someone amazing. We all deserve a second chance and RMD got a blissful one even after facing tragedy at first. 

Who is RMD?

Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo is a Nigerian actor, lawyer, writer, producer and former Journalist. He was also a former commissioner for culture and tourism in Delta State in 2009. He was born on the 6th of July 1961 in Aladija community of Udu Kingdom, Delta state. In 2005, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for best actor in a leading role. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Award in 2016.

He started his acting career as a small child after he joined the Drama club in his School. He attended Midwest College Warri and Anglican Grammar School. He got into the University of Benin where he studied theatre arts and graduated in 1983. Later on, he attended the University of Lagos where he studied law and graduated in 2004. In 2005, he was called to bar.

RMD and MEE (Mary Ellen Ezekiel)

After RMD had finished at the University of Benin he started his acting career and got married to his first wife, Late May Ellen Mofe-Damijo who was 5 years older than him. She was a journalist and she worked in different news organisations including Sunday Concord, Newswatch and others. She founded Classique magazine and became its publisher.

On March 23 1996, she died during a fibroid operation at Providence Hospital In Surulere. MEE was having her second fibroid surgery removed and she died at age 39. She was in a relationship before she got married to RMD but it didn’t work out. The relationship produced a daughter named Nichole Onome, who is now under the custody of RMD.

In 2000 RMD decided to move on and he got lucky with his second chance. He married his second and current wife, Jumobi Adegbesan

RMD and Jumobi

RMD and Jumobi got married on the 29th of December, 2000 after dating for three years. He married the TV personality and following her marriage, she quit her job. Those who worked closely with the OAP can testify that Jumobi had always had a crush on RMD and she would joke about being called Mrs RMD. You see, she was speaking into existence.

When he was celebrating his 21st wedding anniversary, he engaged himself with a question and answer session with his fans. The public who had been itching to know why Jumobi quit her booming broadcasting career asked right away. RMD replied by saying that his wife made the decision on her own and that she left so she could focus on her family.

“My wife had her mind made up before we got married that she didn’t want to be in the public eye and that she needed timeout to raise our family. It was a decision she reached on her own.”

“She only gave up fame ( not her dream), she is very successful in the corporate world and founded a successful business which she is passionate about, it’s called Blends and Blingz.”

The media and the public have speculated him to be a cheat and have accused him of infidelity but he always denies it and he continues to prove that Jumobi Is the only woman in his life. He said that he never considered himself a ladies man and he was only called that because of his looks.

RMD Accused Of Infidelity

RMD was accused by an Instagram blogger. They said he was involved with a certain Chioma Ilomuanya who is an interior decorator. However, in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, RMD debunked the reports of him dumping or cheating on his wife.

“All you want to do is just tear me down, saying things like oh he’s in love with somebody else, he’s going to leave his wife tomorrow.” He said. He also added that people like to see celebrity marriages crash and he doesn’t see himself as a celebrity. So he’s not in a celebrity marriage and it can’t crash. E for Energy!

RMD and Jumobi Seeds

The couple has been blessed with four beautiful children, two boys and two girls, and a daughter from his late wife. RMD is a big family man and he cares about his children and grandchildren

OgheneKome Mofe-Damijo is RMD’s son. He got married in a lavish ceremony. At that time RMD was into politics and was the commissioner for culture and tourism Delta, so the big people in politics were in attendance. Also big names in Nollywood were found there. Kome met his Wife, Eniola 14 years before they got married. He tried to woo her at 17 but her father shut him down and told him to focus on his studies. He met Eniola for the first time at Sunday school and now they are married with two children, making RMD and Jumobi grandparents.

Nicole Onome is the Daughter of his Late wife, MEE. She famously attended the Obama Foundation Summit and was handpicked by Obama himself for a 10-minute meeting to talk about her life and work.

Tega is an Instagram socialite. Always dropping hot pictures to pepper everybody. He maintains a good social media presence, unlike the others.

RMD has not disclosed the name of his daughter but he has posted lot of pictures with her. He has made it a point to never say her name or tag her in any of his pictures to protect her privacy.

RMD Fifth Child

It has been reported that RMD has a fifth child but nothing or pictures have been disclosed. The child is still young and not much has been said.

RMD has two grandchildren, a boy and a girl. The Grand Dad loves his grandchildren so dearly and he has stated that they bring him so much joy.

There is nothing much to tell about these lovely couples. The wife, Jumobi, likes her private life and she hates to take pictures. RMD has mentioned that on several occasions.

We can tell you that the couple is in a happy place and they just celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary.  RMD posted a throwback and a recent picture with, how it started and how it’s going.

Lessons To Take

1. Love like you are just meeting for the first time, never let your attitude change when you gradually go deeper into the relationship. If it changes, it should be for the better. 

2. No matter what you have heard from people about your spouse, always confirm before retaliating and handle things with respect, away from the media.
