Ebuka Obi-Uchendu And His Wife Cynthia Were Not Attracted To Each Other At First

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is a Nigerian lawyer and a media personality. He is famously known as just “Ebuka”.  He was also one of ex BBA Africa housemates and this was the show that brought him to fame.

She is the daughter of Chief Vincent Obianodo, CEO of the famous transportation company, ‘Young Shall Grow’. She also works in her father’s company.

She is also a graduate of Cynthia Human Resource Management from the University of Hertfordshire.

 

Ebuka And Cynthia; Children

They have two children together which they named Jeweluchi Obi- Uchendu  and Irubinachi respectively.

Jewel was born on the 8th of Novemeber 2016 while Rubi was born in 2018.

Why Ebuka Keeps His Family Life Private;

Even though he is handling such a public space, Ebuka has kept his family life off social media and only posts then on rare occasions.

His reason being that he wanted to protect his family from the media scrutiny that came with being a public figure.

Not An Instant Attraction; Ebuka and Cynthia

He opened up during an interview with Schick  Magazine and revealed that he had no intention of marrying his wife in the beginning, it hadn’t been an instant attraction.

He however got to know her a little bit more and realized that his values and ideals aligned with hers perfectly.

He revealed

 “I met her on Twitter. We followed each other, exchanged messages a few times, and then kept it moving.

The connection wasn’t instant, but over time I think I realised that, beyond how much of a happy person she is, our values aligned so strongly that an attraction started to form.

It also helped that she has the biggest smile in the world and laughed a lot at things I said and vice versa. From the day we started talking seriously, I knew literally two months later that I wanted to marry her.”

Ebuka also addressed how important privacy was to him especially with his family being in the future.

He said,

“If I could, I would never talk about them or even put out images of them anywhere. But, I cannot help it because I also love to celebrate them and show off how blessed I am with such an amazing wife. So, I have to balance it out and do it on my terms.”

“It’s very tough on different levels. For me, I get very riled up when she is attacked or talked about; I’m very defensive and protective of her.

“For her, while she’s also defensive of me, I think it’s more the fact that she was suddenly thrust into this life without knowing what to expect, so it took her a while to come to terms with it. She still fully hasn’t, but it’s a lot easier now.”

In a funny banter session on Twitter in 2021,  Cynthia, his wife took to her instagram page to reveal that during Ebuka’s stay in the Big brother Africa house, she did not like him.

In her own words,

“It’s strange that I couldn’t stand Ebuka during his season of Big Brother.”

Ebuka, responding to the tweet, wrote:

“When you start hating something you love so much because you couldn’t have it.”

On his birthday last year, she took to her instagram handle to completely gush on her husband while wishing him happy

She shared some photos and a video of their kids wishing Ebuka a happy birthday, She disclosed that the media personnel made loving him easy for her.

She wrote:

“Happy birthday to a sweet, kind, intelligent and strong man.
The kids and I are extremely blessed to have you in our lives. You make loving you so easy”.

“You have a way of bringing light and joy wherever you go.
Your light will never go dim.
May God’s favour never depart you in all that you do. I love you so much”

Marriage on the rocks?

In 2020 it was rumored that their marriage relationship might have been going through some really tough periods and might possible be ending soon.

Why?

This rumor started to swirl after Cynthia dished out  her opinion about her stance on Open marriage on Twitter.

This came after Jada And Will revealed that they had been in an open relationship.

The media at the time had been bustling with this information and I guess she had also  decided to lend her own voice.

In a now deleted tweet, she said,

“I’ve always said that there is absolutely nothing wrong in having an open marriage”, she tweeted.

“As long as your partner isn’t in the dark situation then please do you and enjoy yourself.“

This tweet got her a lot of media attacks on social media and  she eventually  yanked it off.

Besides that little moment of slight controversy, the pair have continued to remain a low profile concerning their marriage and have spilled nothing new about their relationship.

This couple are intentional about their private life and this is a virtue most celebrities can learn because it sure does help to keep your marriage and family out of public scrutiny.
